Visitor
Guide - Selwo Aventura
Located
just a couple of miles along the coastal road heading towards Estepona
from Marbella and Puerto Banus, and a short distance from our rental
apartments in El Presidente, is the spectacular Selwo Wildlife Adventure
Park. Here you will find more than 2000 animals from every continent
living in semi-free conditions on the one million square metre site.
Selwo Aventura is open daily from 10.00 to 21.00 through to about the
end of November.
Below is a view of the luxuriant and extensive lake-side gardens in Selwo. |
 |
 |
These
gardens lead to the Masai-style village huts and the largest walk
through aviary in Europe with over 1000 birds of different species
living in a vast and enclosed valley.
The
huge lake, provides a lovely focal-point for Selwo. |
To
really enjoy your visit to the Marbella area (and it's just
five minutes from Selwo!), why not stay in our very spacious
luxury rental apartment in the
prestigious
beachside El
Presidente
complex?
With its spaciousness, quality and comfort,
five swimming pools (one is heated), tennis courts, wonderful
surroundings, beautiful gardens and fountains there's no better
place to be!
Click here to see why it is so
special!

To
the left are some of the flamingoes in one of the large enclosures,
including some with monkeys and crocodiles, which are to be found
to the right of the entrance area to Selwo Aventura.
These lead
to the starting point for the trucks that can take you up to
the first stage where there is a large outdoor enclosure for
bengal tigers and a cave full of bats!
From
there another truck will transport you through the valleys and
hill-sides to the
top of the site, passing through many areas in which a wide
variety of animals such as elephants, bison, antelopes, bears,
tigers,
giraffes and rhinoceroses are able to roam in relative freedom.
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
The
trucks depart at regular intervals throughout the day although
during the high season there can be long queues during the peak
periods. Alternatively you can walk along the paths, crossing
the foot and rope-bridges, providing opportunities to view the
animals at a more leisurely pace.
From July
1st to September 12th there is also a regular evening event that
involves a tour of the park at sunset by truck to view the animals,
plus a special dinner and a show. |

Above
is a view of the park looking towards the Marbella coastline.
There are
several restaurants and cafes around the site serving drinks,
snacks and more substantial meals. |
 |
 |
| Getting
up, close and personal! |
| As
well as the animals there are also a wide variety of additional
activities on offer including an exhibition of the flying and hunting
skills of hawks, shown above. Also there are camel rides, archery,
an adventure playground, trampolining and a simulated rain-forest
water-spray machine! |
 |
 |
 |
 |
It
is even possible to stay over night in Selwo in one of the replica
Watu or Masai villages, shown left, which actually offer comfortable
and air-conditioned accommodation.
There is also
a Selwo Nature School as well as Selwo Summer Camps that use
the Park's many elements as the stimulus for studies and outdoor
activities. |
| When
you get there you have the option of either buying a single ticket
just for entry to the Selwo wild life/adventure park or you can
purchase a combined ticket for Selwo Ventura and Selwo
Marina as well as the Telecabina at a saving of 40%.
As all three are worth visiting (the latter can also be combined
with a visit to Tivoli World as they are next to each other) it
is at least worth considering. The current price is 25 euros for
this combined ticket. |
