Fuengirola Zoo

Located just off from the A-7 coastal road and close to Fuengirola town, the zoo is open throughout the year from 10 am until early evening.

Indeed during July and August it is open until midnight offering visitors the unique opportunity to wander through the zoo by moonlight and to experience the activities of the many nocturnal animals.

The zoo is divided into various regions of the world, Madagascar, Equatorial Africa and South East Asia and features over 100 species of animals, fish and birds housed in semi-open enclosures that are designed to replicate their natural habitat.

Water is a central feature in many of the enclosures with waterfalls, streams and pools providing a moving backdrop to the 500 birds and animals that inhabit these areas. Added to this are the swamps, the tropical gardens with their trees home to screeching gibbons, lemurs and sitatungas, as well as the reptile house with its snakes and spiders.
There is also a 500 sq.m. children’s adventure playground with an outdoor cafe next to it , as well as a reasonably priced indoor restaurant offering a good selection of snacks and meals.

Birds feature prominently with both outdoor locations for flamingoes and enclosed aviaries housing many exotic species. There is also an outdoor theatre where a daily show features some of these magnificent creatures.

 
As well as giving visitors the opportunity to see all these wonderful animals, Fuengirola Zoo is also an active participant in international species conservation programmes.
